Welcome to Personal Data Technics
The PDT HealthLink Card is a credit card sized plastic 'smart card' that has two chips embedded in it. The first
chip is a location chip. This chips allows the EMS personnel to find the card if needed, using the PDT Card Locator.
The second chip is a contact chip that when placed into an EMS computer with a PDT Card Reader will provide primary
medical information, such as name, blood type, drug allergies, diabetic information, epilepsy, etc. This will allow the paramedic
to assist the patient quickly, while protecting their privacy.
Also included in this information is a coded 'PIN' number, called a PDT ID, that is unique to each card holder.
When the paramedic contacts the hospital emergency staff about the nature of the emergency, the patients condition, and
their ETA, the paramedic will also give the hospital the patients PDT ID number.
The emergency doctor will enter their PDT Hospital Code along with the patient's PDT ID number into the
PDT software that is installed on the hospital's computers. Once both numbers have been verified PDT's secure servers,
the patient's medical information will appear on the emergency room monitor and the information that is needed for admissions
will appear on the admission staff's monitor.
This information appears on the emergency room monitor BEFORE the patient arrives. The emergency room staff do not have
to wait for blood test results or other lab test results to find out critical information about the patient. The important point
here is that no non-emergency staff need to go into the emergency room to distract the emergency staff and the doctors to
get information from them about the patient, like their insurance information.
